Hoffmann Natural Eyewear strongly champions sustainable concepts – and not just since the “Fridays for Future” demonstrations highlighted sustainability issues and inspired the world to a new environmental awareness. It‘s high time for our world to act! But what about Hoffmann? Here, we have been successfully evolving for over four decades thanks to our sustainable manufacturing practices. Keeping a constant eye on nature and its resources and working to protect them is firmly anchored in Hoffmann Natural Eyewear’s philosophy. And this way of thinking is not new: the principle was already firmly rooted when the company was founded in 1978 and today, over 40 years later, it is still an essential part of the company concept.
Environmentally-friendly raw materials for eyewear
The most important material for our eyewear creations is natural horn, usually the horn of the Asian water buffalo. These animals are revered in their home countries and are very valuable to the people there. Therefore, it is a matter of course that the water buffaloes are not killed for their horn. In addition to natural horn, wood is also used for certain models – a renewable raw material and a natural basis for spectacle frames. Manufacturing by hand also contributes to the positive environmental balance.
Umweltbewusste Firmenkonzepte
For example, our production rooms are both heated and cooled with a geothermal system – an extremely environmentally-fiendly solution. Another, completely different step is our concept for replacing presents for customers with a donation to local charity. Near our premises there is a Wild Bird Sanctuary, where sick or injured birds, bats and even hedgehogs can be brought to be treated and tended before they are returned to the wild. This is a great project and we are proud to support it!

Die Hornbrillen-Produktion ist genau 11km und 13 Minuten mit dem Auto von unserem Hoffmann-Head-Office entfernt. So steht unser Management-Team stetig im engen Kontakt mit den Produktions-Mitarbeitern, können faire Arbeitsbedingungen sicherstellen und sich persönlich mit ihnen austauschen.
